It’s that time of year again. The awards season is well and truly underway, with the Baftas this Sunday, following from last month’s Golden Globes, before the Oscars bring the curtains down.
There are a few certainties this weekend; The Artist will pick up a number of awards, and it seems Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is in line for a couple. The one thing we can’t be sure of is what we’re going to see on the red carpet.
Until Sunday, the dresses are under strict lock and key at The Savoy Hotel, so we can only but imagine who will come up trumps in the fashion stakes and who will be left wondering ‘what was I thinking?’ when seeing themselves splashed across Monday’s papers.
In our opinion, these ladies got it right last year;
While these ladies didn’t fare so well;
A dissection of this year’s Bafta fashion winners and losers (sorry ladies, it has to be done) will follow next week.
We’re also looking forward to seeing what New York Fashion Week has to offer, with a month of shows kicking off this week. The world will get to see the Autumn/Winter 2012 collections, although with the weather the way it is right now, we might as well bypass all the summer clothes in store right now and start buying these straight away!
Prior to Fashion Week, Avenue retailer Ted Baker showed off its latest menswear collection at trade show ENK, also in New York. The theme of the collection is ‘urban woodsman’; giving country wear an urban flair, with their sweaters and outerwear stealing the show (pictured below).
London Fashion Week is next on the list, running from February 17-21. We shall keep our beady eyes peeled on the latest trends and report back.
Not a week goes by without Man City star Mario Balotelli hitting the headlines. Last week we mentioned his generosity in our Nandos’ restaurant, this week it’s all about Vogue. The Italian star is pictured in the latest edition of Vogue Italia, frequenting unlikely haunts in Ardwick Green, including the Uppercrust Bakery. Not quite the location you’d imagine Vogue choosing but you learn something every day!
And finally, all together now…Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Hey Little Cupcake! Happy Birthday to you. The now award-winning cupcakery celebrates its first birthday this week and we think the best way to join in the celebrations is to eat lots of cake. The diet can start on Monday…
